FSOC Approves SIFI Criteria
The Financial Stability Oversight Council ("FSOC") recently approved guidelines to determine whether an insurer may be a "systemically significant financial institution" or "SIFI" which could subject an insurer to heightened federal regulation. The rule approved by the FSOC was similar to its original rule proposed in November 2011.
